Mon Naturals explains their new clay mineral balm and why the properties of hemp support the health
How long has your company been in this business, what was the inspiration behind the products?
Mon Naturals was first established in 2016 to facilitate collaboration with Bangor University and the Welsh Government under the SMART Expertise Programme, which led to a successful nine-month Anti-Microbial Screening Project on our Welsh Traditional Clay Mineral Balm Eliawen.
The inspiration behind the products is my ancestral ties. I was fortunate and blessed to be handed down such an ancient balm. I made my father a promise in 2007 that I would make it available to everybody on this earth, and I have been busy with this goal ever since and will continue on this path. We, as a family, have always healed in the community using natural products. I believe in carrying on this tradition in today’s society, leaving a legacy befitting our ancestors.
How do you source your products, are they all-natural?
The original Clay Mineral Balm Eliawen has been handed down from generation to generation of my family and can be traced back over 200 yrs. It still adheres to the original recipe, which contains two ingredients. One is our Indigenous Slate, and the other an oil we extract from Biomass. Both elements are worked separately and then mixed. They are organic and nonorganic and completely natural. Both the ingredients and the matrix are Cosmetically Certified.
Our Vegan Plant-Based Balm Elienaid with added Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil formulated as an alternative to the Biomass Oil. We replicated the fatty acid index and incorporated as many of the compounds as we could. Enhancing the topical effects by adding Cannabis/Hemp. Again we make the balm by adopting the method handed down by my father. All ingredients are Certified Organic and Unrefined and as pure as we can source. Elienaid is also Cosmetically Certified.
How many different ranges do you produce?
At present, our range consists of two products Eliawen the Welsh Traditional Clay Mineral Balm and Elienaid, the Vegan Plant-Based Balm with added Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil. There is a third product formulated; this will be a mix of the Welsh Slate and the Vegan Balm. Tests are underway locally on a variety of skin ailments. This product will be available in 2020 once Cosmetically Certified.
