As lifestyle and wellness editor what are you planning to write about?
I plan to write about how we can use fitness, food & lifestyle to improve our quality of life so we can make the most out of life while feeling fantastic.
What inspires you to share your health and wellness ideas?
Seeing my clients transform is what most inspires me. When I first set off on this journey I thought maybe I could help a few people lose weight, get a flatter belly or have more energy but actually, the transformations I’ve seen in my clients has gone far beyond that. Of course they lose weight, of course they have a flatter belly and, of course, they have more energy but it’s how it affects their day to day life and how much happier they become that inspires me the most.
How long have you been practising yoga and pilates?
I’ve been practising Pilates for 16 years and Yoga on and off for the past 6 years.
Why is yoga important when we can use gyms or run or walk?
Good question. I walked out of my first Yoga class when I first tried it 16 years ago because it wasn’t enough of a “workout” for me and I thought the teacher was way too spiritual and creepy. I completely missed the point. Yoga isn’t really comparable to any other workout because it contains a spiritual element which means that it affects us on a much deeper level than just the physical. I see Yoga as a great practice for life because it teaches us how to keep our cool and not judge ourselves or others in situations that make us feel uncomfortable. It strengthens, lengthens and makes us more flexible, not just on a physical level but on a mental & emotional one too. It took me a very long time to understand this!
Why did you set up a Pilates & Yoga retreat?
It’s always been a dream of mine to host retreats. I love teaching and seeing the transformation that can occur in people after a condensed time of practice is extremely gratifying. Seeing my clients get stronger, more flexible, healthier & happier is my greatest drive and the faster I can see that transformation, the happier it makes me feel! So retreats seemed like the perfect recipe for it!
How do you find the time to work and practice yoga, eat healthy foods, write and organise well being retreats, do you ever have time for holidays?
I thought becoming an entrepreneur would be awesome because I would be able to take as many holidays as I want. It turns out that it’s the exact opposite! I can’t complain because I love what I do but I can’t say that I take any real holidays anymore. I travel a lot but I spend most days working on my laptop, on coaching calls, training clients or preparing for speeches & events. I took 6 days off social media this summer and that felt like the closest I’ve had to a holiday for a long time.
I wouldn’t want to have it any other way though. Practicing Pilates, Yoga, Meditation and eating healthy foods is who I am and if I can make a living by inspiring others to do the same and call it a job I guess I’m one hell of a lucky person!
Will you be sharing recipes too ?
What is your dream lifestyle?
My dream lifestyle is not too far from the one I’m living right now: coaching clients from all over the World from my laptop, travelling to speak at events internationally, teaching Pilates with views over the Med when I’m in Monaco and spending time in Costa Rica & New York where I get my inspiration for Pilates, Yoga & Mindfulness is a pretty good life.
Ideally, I would like to spend more time in a place where I can surf & horse ride since those are two of my favourite sports. I’d also like to host more retreats. I’ve got one coming up at the end of September in Ibiza but ideally I’d like to do 5 or 6 of them a year.
Sometime in the future, I’d also like to share this with someone and have a family. My dream would be to raise my kids on a farm where I can teach them how to ride and we can grow our own food. We’ll host massive dinner parties and dance barefoot in our garden, go surfing and have lots of rescue dogs! Ok, now THAT’S a dream life!
